Amphitrema congolense  Van Oye, 1958

Diagnosis: Shell sub-cylindrical, regularly ovoid, sometimes slightly pointed towards one pole. Shell chitinous with very few mineral grains in the mid region. Both apertures are surrounded by mineral grains that form irregular collars.

Dimensions: According to Van Oye (1958): Shell length 53—70 µm (n=4); width 32—40 µm; L/W ratio 1.51-1.93.

Ecology: Freshwater.

Geographical distribution: Congo, Africa.

Remarks: Van Oye (1958) considered the mineral grains around the apertures as characteristic.
