Amphitrema stenostoma Nüsslin, 1884
Diagnosis: Shell ovoid, symmetrical, more or less compressed; composed of a transparent membrane, with adherent foreign bodies; two apertures at opposite poles; large vesicular nucleus; one to several contractile vacuoles; straight filopodia, sparsely branched, radiating; apertures inwardly funnel-shaped narrowed, without outer ring-shaped thickening and constriction of the neck.
Dimensions: According to Nüsslin (1884): Shell length 55 µm; width 40 µm; depth 30 µm.
Ecology: in wet or submerged Sphagnum vegetation.
