Euglypha mucronata

Euglypha mucronata Leidy, 1879

Diagnosis: Shell relatively large, elongated in plan, almost cylindrical, in cross-section round, fundus pointed, bearing one, directed backwards, or two intersecting spines. Aperture round, surrounded by 6—8 oval aperture scales, with one large medial tooth and three small teeth on each side.

Dimensions: Shell length 100—140 µm; width 32—60 µm; aperture diameter 15—20 µm; spine length 12—44 µm.

Ecology: Sphagnum.
