Euglypha tuberculata Dujardin, 1841
Diagnosis: Shell ovoid, in cross-section circular; aperture circular, surrounded by 1—2 rows of scales, 8—12 in a row, with a small triangular medial tooth and 4—5 lateral ones. Aperture and cross section round. Shell without spines, body scales large, elliptical, or nearly circular; plasma and pseudopodia normal.
Dimensions: Shell length 45—100 µm; width 24—50 µm; aperture diameter 10—20 µm.
Habitat: Sphagnum and other mosses, also in sediments and between aquatic plants.
Infraspecific taxa.
E. tuberculata curvata Vucetich, 1973
The shell is curved in the aperture area.
E. tuberculata minor Taránek, 1882
The shell is smaller in size compared to the typical form, oval in plan, the aperture is surrounded by one row of periapical idiosomes. Shell length 28—40 µm, width 14—20 µm.
E. tuberculata ovoidea Decloitre, 1955
Differs from the typical form in the oval shape of the shell. Shell length 52—60 µm, width 32—36 µm, aperture diameter 15—16 µm.
E. tuberculata subcylindrica Decloitre, 1962
Shell elongated-cylindrical, sides almost parallel, cross section round. Shell mainly made up of round scales. Aperture round, surrounded by 1-2 rows of scales with a serrated edge. Shell length 65—130 µm, width is 30—76 µm, aperture diameter 15—38 µm.
