Genus Geopyxella Bonnet & Thomas, 1955

Diagnosis: Shell thick membrane, sub-globular or hemispherical, covered with thin siliceous particles; pseudostome ventral, central, round, in contrast to Cyclopyxis, not invaginated. Ventral surface smooth. Nucleus with one large central caryosome and several smaller peripheral nucleoli.

Two species and several subspecies.

Type species: Geopyxella sylvicola Bonnet & Thomas, 1955

Habitat: Due to its narrow niche the type species is a good indicator species for calcareous rendziniform soils.
