Genus Nabranella Snegovaya and Alekperov, 2009

Diagnosis: Shell oval or spherical shape without neck. Apical top flat and has transverse diaphragm with two holes aperture, very similar on the Pontigulasia aperture arrangement and clearly differs by neck absence.

Type species: Nabranella brevis (monotypic)

Diagnosis: Shell without neck, composed of different size mineral particles. Apical top flat with two holes (40-50 μm) and tranverse diaphragm. Endoplasm usually brown, pseudopodia not observed.

Dimensions: Length 80-90 µm, width 60-75 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater.

Geographical distribution: Sediment in spring water near Nabran village, Northern-East Azerbaijan.

Remarks: N. brevis differs from all closely related representatives of Pontigulasia by full neck absence.
