Centropyxis acuminata  Couteaux & Chardez, 1981

Diagnosis: Shell elongated with a more or less acuminate posterior end, slightly compressed dorsoventrally. Pseudostome close to the apical zone, more or less elliptical with the major axis in the width direction. The covering is made up of thin, polymorphic platelets with often a cluster of exogenous particles forming a point on the bottom of the theca.

Dimensions: Length 80-105 µm, width 50-55 µm, thickness 30-35 µm.

Habitat: Forest humus.

Remarks: This species can be considered intermediate between C. aerophila and C. cassis but the accumulation of exogenous particles at the posterior end seems a sufficiently stable character whatever the origin of the shell for it to be considered a distinct species.
