Centropyxis austriaca
C. austriaca, after Laminger, 1971

Centropyxis austriaca  Laminger, 1976

Diagnosis: Outline of shell approximately circular, pseudostome almost centric. When viewed from the side and from above, the shell resembles a toque. The surface covering consists of very tiny mineral particles that lie relatively densely together. The outline of the pseudostome is an irregular triangle, more rarely an irregular square, with mostly rounded corners.

Dimensions: Length: 140-173 µm; height: 59-78 µm; aperture 51-85 µm.

Habitat: Sediment of the Vorderer Finstertaler See, Austria.

Remarks: Laminger (1971): “The presented species is close to the Centropyxis lapponica described by Grospietsch (1954) from Swedish Lapland. Species that have a round to circular shell outline and an approximately centrally located pseudostome and whose shell is neither regularly convex nor has a bulbous fundus when viewed from the side, but reminds one of a toque. A typical species is Centropyxis lapponica Grospietsch.”
