Centropyxis deflandrei
C. deflandrei, after Rampi, 1950

Centropyxis deflandrei  Rampi, 1950

Diagnosis: Shell robust, entirely covered by xenosomes. In ventral view, it has an elliptical shape, very regular, with an oval pseudostome, small and located near the edge. In lateral view, the shell is characteristically high and rounded and is projected forward in a sort of thick visor, while on the opposite side the shell insensibly joins with the ventral face by means of a wide curve. On the highest part of the shell, there is a kind of spiny appendage.

Dimensions: Length 180 µm; width: 146 µm; height without spiny appendage: 25-35 µm.

Habitat: Freshwater sediment.
