C. deflandriana, after Bonnet, 1959
Centropyxis deflandriana Bonnet, 1959
Diagnosis: Shell ovoid, light brownish in color, circular in cross section. Pseudostome located not at the apex, but in an extremely eccentric position. The visor, wide open, seems clearly added. The aperture, by its diaphragm structure, recalls that of Centropyxis sylvatica (Deflandre) Thomas. It is often closed by a plug of debris. The amorphous covering sometimes incorporates quartz elements in high relief, most often located at the base of the body.
Dimensions: Length 50-55 µm; width: 40-50 µm; width of pseudostome: 25-35 µm.
Habitat: Soil. Extremely aerophilic species with the same ecological requirements as Centropyxis vandeli Bonnet, with which it is most often found.
