Centropyxis minuta  Deflandre, 1929

Diagnosis: Shell small, noticeably hemispherical, but somewhat asymmetrical. In ventral view, approximately circular outline, pseudostome circular or broadly elliptical, eccentric. In lateral view, the shell is a semi-circular dome, a little higher at the posterior part and the ventral surface slightly invaginated. The upper lip has some larger xenosomes. The chitinoid shell is colorless or grayish, with a few scattered mineral particles, generally small and flat.

Dimensions: Length 35-60 µm. My measurements: Length 41.4-54.3 µm, width 32.9-46.0 µm, pseudostome largest axis 7.8-17.3 µm (n=20).

Habitat: On moist moss or Sphagnum. Greenland (Decloitre, 1956, 1979), Austria (high altitude, Laminger, 1970-71)

Geographic distribution. North America, Swiss, Austria, France.
