Centropyxis protecta Bartos, 1963
Diagnosis: Shell elongated oval, made of larger mineral fragments. Particularly large mineral fragments are inserted into the dorsal surface and the rear end of the shell. Edge of the aperture covered with a row of larger, flat and square mineral fragments. Front edge of the aperture is highly arched, the rear edge is only slightly bent backwards and bordered on the ventral side by a row of larger and flat mineral fragments. Ventral surface bends sharply inwards, where it clings tightly to the inner surface of the dorsal side of the shell with two lateral lobes. There is a semicircular opening between these lobes.
Dimensions: Length 92 µm, width 67 µm, opening section 34 µm long, rest of the shell 58 µm long. Aperture 42 x 28 µm. Edge of the aperture about 6 µm wide. The pointed side lobes of the shell opening bar extend to 3/4 of the height of the shell opening. The middle cutout in the bar is 16 µm wide and 13-14 p high. The actual shell rises obliquely backwards and upwards from the shell opening. The shell is 40-45 µm thick.
Habitat: Mosses.
Geographical distribution: Java, Indonesia.
