Centropyxis compressa  Van Oye, 1948

Diagnosis: Shell a little elongated and very flattened regularly, like that of Arcella discoides; it is chitinoid, more or less covered with xenosomes which, however, leave large parts free. Shell with spines at the two opposite poles of the greatest length. These spines are small, very slightly widened at the base. The aperture is relatively large, almost circular, but subcentral.

Dimensions: Length 190 µm; width 150 µm; mouth 60 µm; spines 21 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater, Sphagnum.
