Centropyxis aurita, after Laminger, 1973
Centropyxis aurita Laminger, 1973
Diagnosis: In ventral view, the shell is more or less broadly ovoid in outline. Quite straight truncated at the pseudostome pole, bulbous fundus. The approximately 10 processes are relatively small, e.g. T. only formed as a hump. At the straight pole to the right and left of the pseudostome are 2 processes that are directed away from the front of the pseudostome. This makes the animal look like it has ears. Pseudostome circular, shell almost completely covered with tiny mineral plates. Fundus arched in lateral view.
Dimensions: Length 110 µm; width 105 µm; Pseudostome 20 µm, L/B 1.05.
Habitat: Freshwater sediment, depth of 26-29 cm. Lake Constance, Switzerland.
