Plagiopyxis declivis grandis
Plagiopyxis declivis grandis, after Godeanu, 1972

Plagiopyxis declivis ssp. grandis  Godeanu, 1972

Diagnosis: Shell circular, relatively slightly flattened dorso-ventrally, with an almost straight ventral side. The upper lip of the pseudostome is visibly cut, semicircular. The lower lip slopes, it goes almost to the bottom of the dorsal one, so that the pseudostome is visible from the outside only as a narrow half-lunar slit (resembling that of Plagiopyxis bathystoma Bonnet). The invagination of the ventral lip begins right from the lateral edges of the corners of the pseudostome. The shell is chitinoid, transparent, covered with relatively coarse exogenous material protruding, which is adherent but not overlapping.

Dimensions: Shell diameter about 230 µm; dorso-ventral (height) 165 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater. Stagnant water on the bank of the Mraconia river (tributary of the Danube at km 967).
