Plagiopyxis rostrata Bonnet, 1974

Diagnosis: Cyptostome type simple. Shell with strongly projecting pseudostomal region. In dorsal view, contour very regularly elliptical. In lateral view, ventral sole almost perfectly flat, except for the region of the ventral lip, which slopes slightly inwards. Very prominent dorsal lip with border falling in a plane oblique to the plane of the sole. Main body strongly domed in the dorsal region. In ventral view, pseudostome concealed by the slightly curved dorsal lip. Covering of irregular siliceous elements, clearly reworked, corroded, not contiguous, carried by a yellow or very light brown chitinoid cement, with a more or less granular structure.

Dimensions: Length 140-145 µm; width 89-93 µm; dorso-ventral (height) 92-96 µm.

Ecology: Soil. Common in rich in organic matter in backwater gallery forests, sometimes present in savannah soils (Loudetietum).
